I'd recommend a 6700K if you're wanting to game and do some video editing.

As for the motherboard, I like to recommend the ASUS Z170-P as it's a fantastic board for the price and it comes with all the basic features needed for an enthusiast build.

Do you already have a case?

Editing is the only thing that benefits from the extra cores that x99 offers so it's up to you to determine if it's worth the extra cost over z170.

You don't need a 850 watt PSU unless you plan on adding a second 1080, a good 550-650 watt unit is more than enough.

no i don't have a case.

if i would go with z170 i would choose asus z170 deluxe or asus z170 hero alpha.

i think z170 after a couple of months  will be outdated and z270 will be release

should i wait for it or i get z170

If you invest a little extra into cooling and then overclock it a bunch it can get competitive with the 6700k.

I use 5820k (X99) and gaming works like a charm CPU wise, though I only have a GTX970 GPU so...

Asus X99-A w/ BIOS 3402 | Intel i7 5820k OC @4.4GHz 1.28V w/ Noctua NH-U14S | 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 OC @2666MHz 12-14-14-28 | Asus Geforce GTX970 STRIX OC | EVGA 750 G2 750W | Samsung 850 Evo 1 TB | Windows 10 64-bit | Be-Quiet Silent Base 800 w/ Silent Wings | 2x Dell U2414H OC @72Hz w/ Display Port

Don't forget to invest in an Intel Tuning Plan if you're going to overvolt your K/X CPU

Depends on the editing software you are going to use.

Adobe premiere just go with the 6700K.

Because the 2015 version of premiere doesnt particually scale well beyond 4 threads.

But for most other editing software more cores come handy.

But it does of course depends on how big of a priority the editing work would have over gaming.

And what kind editing work precisely.

Because if you are going to render allot of 4K video footage, then the more cores the better.

For gaming the 6700K is better in most games without a doubt.

will it run softwares like sony vegas pro 13,final cut pro, cyberlink power director 12,rainmeter and other softwares like this

Yet it will and x99 is a waste of money unless you do heavy content creation and absolutely need those extra cores to get rendering done faster

Even better one would be the Asrock Z170 Extreme! their mobo's are just made to be overclocked... good stuff.

They have bad voltage regulators I heard.

yes

Yea then I'd pick the Hero board. IR pwm(Used in boards meant for achieving high OCs), high quality vrm and loads of overclocking features.

i5 2400 | ASUS RTX 4090 TUF OC | Seasonic 1200W Prime Gold | WD Green 120gb | WD Blue 1tb | some ram | a random case
