Ugh, help...

Specs :  Dell Motho, and Case, along with no-name PSU.

Case, and PSU are the DELL oem as well? Is the motherboard a standard ATX layout?

Ask your parents or your Aunt if there is anything you can do to earn another $200 over the next couple of months like completely clean out the garage and spray it for spiders, split wood, help sort, box up, and itemize old unwanted clothing and such to take to a consignment shop so it can be sold and written off on taxes.

If you do that then you could buy a $100 motherboard and an i5 in a few months.

Edit: rake the yard and sack up the leaves, clean up the underbrush around the trees and bushes, etc.... if you want money you can find a way to get it. If the dad and aunt don't want to help maybe a neighbor will... especially the elderly that have a little money, they probably want it done but don't want to do it themselves.

A Phenom II X4 will still work if you're willing to tweak it (lower clockspeed a bit, then lower voltage and stress test).

I am proposing a solution to your problem. If you want to accept it, please do. If you don't, I won't pity you, I'll just leave.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

God forbid I get on your nerves. It just blows my mind that people don't have the drive and dedication to work towards what they want, and they make pitiful excuses saying "it's the generation" and "well nobody else did" and blame all their problem on other people. It makes you look weak, lazy, and pathetic.

You should talk to your parents about this. It should make them happy to know that you've accepted your situation and are trying to find a solution.

And then, since you've done your research, I bet you'll have no problem figuring out how to undervolt that CPU :) (make sure your motherboard BIOS can do it).

And there's always the option of mowing lawns.

What can it do? Can it disable cores, lower clockspeeds?

And maybe think about a way to make money in the winter too :) You might not be able to do this, but this winter I will make and sell a lot of craft beer, for instance.

Also, when I installed my Athlon II X4, I had to swap it out with the exact copy I got from my aunt, who gave me it as a joke.. xD It turned out I needed to swap motherboards, which I thought was weird, are you sure this wouldn't happen again?

I mean we've all been there, but most of us here were brought up in a fashion to be greatful for what they have, and try to solve their problems. There's people who haven't had shit, and work for what they want. Like sure there were times where I wanted more than I was going to get, but I never said my parents screwed me, and messed everything up, because I've been there where my parents didn't have shit to give.

I just feel if you want something, come here seeking advice on how to get it. Not complaining about Mom and Dad and saying you're too lazy to go get money, and then saying "it's the generation". Drives me up the wall.

Get on your nerves? You have the mindset that you are entitled to something, you think you deserve something for doing anything that you think is remotely hard.

If anything, your mindset gets onto my nerves because of how ridiculous it is.

The ONLY thing you are entitled to from your parents is a roof over your head and food on the table.

Heck, be even happy you have a damn machine to play with, when I was growing up, I was banned from almost any form of entertainment in the house.

But you're not thankful. You're just saying that to get people off your back. You're actually very unhappy about it. And that's the way things go man.

My parents bought my sister a car. Did they ever buy me a car? Nope.

They bought my sister a phone. Did they ever buy me a phone? Nope.

So what did I do? Saved money and bought a brand new car, and a nice phone. It's the way she goes.

And now you're just trying to justify your point of being upset about your parents not giving you what you want. What your sister is getting is completely irreverent. The point I'm making is you're too lazy to work for what you want, and you're just trying to find a cheap easy alternative. Life isn't always cheap and easy.

I know Celeron performance is low, but the G1840 just might be good since I already have DDR3 RAM.... using collected money I could get a Case and power supply at Micro Center, the and the Celeron and G1840 on amazon... It offer's upgradability which is perfect since I will be upgrading over the summer if all goes well.
