Hello,

Back in 2011, a Guinness World Record on highest CPU overclock was achieved. It was an AMD FX 8150 clocked at 8,4GHz (8429,5MHz), with a multiplier of 31x and Bus Speed of 271,9MHz with voltage at 2.016 :o
I was wondering, is this still the highest overclock record, or has anyone beaten this? Attaching YouTube link for those who wants to see the the 8,4GHz clocked FX 8150 :)

Main:  1650 v2   @ 4,6GHz   -   X79 Deluxe                -   GTX 1080 @ 2000MHz   -   24GB DDR3 @ 2400MHz / CL10

Side:   i7-4790K @ 4,5GHz   -   Maximus 7 Hero        -   GTX 1070 @ 2114MHz    -  16GB DDR3 @ 2666MHz / CL12

Yeah, a 8350 at alomst 8.8ghz. But that is 2c/2t only, so pretty slow for real multi tasking use.

FX still has the record. We might not see it broken for a while because of the way AMD designed their CPU to get high clock speeds did not result in better gaming. Im also pretty sure they turned off all cores to get that speed

when you see a random celeron there

Lol i know, the funniest WR is one i sadly can't remember but iirc it was the highest overclock percentage wise.

I really need to find it again but it was some weird-ass nvidia card like a 7600 with a 1100% overclock or something.

But with Intel's much better IPC (for now, that is), wouldn't a stock 6700K or 7700K beat it, or at least come close, like in Cinebench?

thats not what the clock speed record is about. its about playing with liquid nitrogen to get stupidly high clock speed.

Couldn't a 5 second google search have answered your question about if its still the fastest?

I could've done that, but that was not the point. The point was to hear peoples opinions on these extreme overclockers, world records etc...

Well if you had put something vaguely similar to that in the opening post it would of helped, you simply mentioned the old record and asked if there's a new one.

Gaining 1000% oc on a cpu is like overclocking a 300MHz one to 3,3GHz and this is not the way you calculate the gpu's oc%.

The cpu formula should be

100x(current frequency÷base frequency)

The world record is 100x(8795/4000) which is a ~220% oc.

Now let's see how a 366% oc looks like:20210211_083721.thumb.jpg.c37cfbfe116211219b5cadfadc7b87b2.jpg
