Server Problem

So we have a Dell PowerVault NX300 and every time we reboot it some of the drives are marked as offline but they're there in diskmgmt and once you put them back online, you have access to them with all the data. This server is just used for backups and it's running windows server 2008.

Any suggestions as to why this may be happening ?

controller issue maybe?

I've seen that in some posts I've come across and also seen people say it was an issue with the OS installed (they were using ESXi) but I really don't know what to think.

We use ESXi quite heavily at work across many clients and I've not seen this issue before (but I'm not saying that it;s not the issue!)

 

Like knightslugger said, it would be worth checking if there are any issues with the controller, check the iDRAC to make sure that there aren't any health problems with the server, update firmware etc.
