Hi all :) Just wanted some opinions on my build:

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/jK4xRG

Gonna be using it for mostly Gaming alongside a tiny bit of Video Editing here and there. I have already ordered the parts marked with 0.00 GBP.

I want to experience 1440p mostly, alongside a bit of 4k Gaming. As for the video editing, I'll use Adobe's software.

So, does it all look good? :D I hope that i5 can definitely be able to handle 4k and video editing with no issues lol. Already ordered it soo, yup.

I will be getting a keyboard and mouse later on and as for the monitor, I do have a Samsung one which lists 3840x2160 resolution on their site's specs.

Thanks in advance guys!

A 1080 paired with a 6500? That's a bit odd.

I couldn't afford a 6600k/6700k unfortunately, bit out of budget.

Oh and I kinda misworded what I meant, I meant 4k Gaming and 1080p-Vid Rendering (No I'm not a youtuber lol)

Is the 6500 / 1080 gonna struggle on 4k gaming?

@Ethereal, pairing the i5-6500 with the GTX 1080 is a very odd and somewhat bad combo as you'll be losing some FPS when compared to something like an i5-6600K or an i7-6700K which is what you should've got. Other than that, your build looks solid. :)

So it won't handle 4k Gaming? or will it, but with FPS issues?

I couldn't afford the 6600k/6700k as I was saying to RKRiley above :( Bit outta my budget.

Oh and because I don't want to OC the CPU.

You cant even "overclock" that thing...

An i5-6500 with a 1070 would be almost as bad :l.

Hmm... probably an i5-6600K + GTX 1070 combo would've been better. :)

It will handle 4K gaming, but not as high framerates as if you were to pair the GTX 1080 with an i5-6600K or i7-6700K. With the i5-6500, the GTX 1080 will probably sit at 70%-80% usage max. (Not fully utilized)

Are you sure?

I've seen a few builds recently with a 1070 or 1080 and the 6500.

But if I don't plan to OC the cpu, then what's the point in getting a K-CPU..?

I don't mean to be rude but surely an i5-6500 can't be that bad... I don't plan to OC any CPUs, ever.

Then I would ditch that EVO and used the included cooler and ditch one of those drives to get the i7 6700. Do you really need 4TB of storage right now?

And even then, the 6600K may yeld 10 frames below the 6700K if not oced to like 4.9Ghz xD!

Says the benchmarks in some games at 4K... 1440p and 1080p is pretty much the same with both ha

Even if you don't plan on overclocking, the stock i5-6600K is naturally more powerful than the i5-6500. :)

Don't think it would do that, it wouldn't be as good as the i7 6700 but shuckling every 10 frames is kinda of an over exaggeration.

Have any of those builds provided feasible benchmarks, charts, reports, table values, etc?

At least when compared to the 6600K, 6700K, 6800K, etc.

In reply about the 4TB, kind of, yes. For steam games, rendered vids and applications.

I need this PC to be quieter than my last one, was very noisy.

How though? That's what I don't understand when YouTubers and other people say that.

Can't you prioritise silence and moving all your stuff later when you can afford it and get an i7 now?

I think its safe for all to say that, if he asked if he could play at 1080p completely fine with a GTX 1080 and an i5-6500, then it yep. If he said 1440p, then he would probably degradation on cpu intensive games and at 4K, well, it would certainly be a lil bich at some point on various intensive games.

Conclusion should be that he should definetly attempt to find balance on his computer right now, by fitting a more capable cpu, especially for video editing, where that particular cpu can be quite terrible...

It's only going to be very little video editing and mostly gaming, I ordered the i5 because of that. The i7 I think, is more for streamers, youtubers etc.. I'm not one of them and I dunno if I can get the extra money for a K-Series CPU :/ And yes I do need this PC to be silent, I wasn't exaggerating when I said about the noise in my previous comment, was quite noisy unfortunately.
