Monitor Refresh Rate

Hi guys, I just bought a 144hz monitor with free sync. If I had a Nvidia gpu, free sync would not work. What would 144hz be like without that. I know 144hz monitors sometimes do not have adaptive sync, free sync, and g sync. But is it bad. I know that the screen will tear when the fps is greater than the refresh rate. But, I thought that it would tear if the fps is lower than the monitor refresh rate too. Please explain these to me. Thanks.

You can try it for your self and find the answers to your questions.

I'm sure that somewhere in radeon settings or monitor itself there is an option to turn off freesync. Than you have non adaptive sync 144Hz.

Than find the game that can limit fps to something lower than 144 or just crank the setting up so the FPS is lower, and see the results for yourself.

Screen tearing happens if the frame rate does not match a factor of the refresh rate, and it gets progressively worse the lower the frame rate and the further away it is between factors.

 

So if you're already hitting 100+ FPS, you're probably not going to really notice it.
