As of now, consistent 4K gaming above 60fps is not doable, unless you have two Titan X Pascal cards. This means that gaming on a 4K tv could have tearing (v-sync wouldn't be an option in most cases). On the other hand, a 4K tv allows you to consume other media and can it be used socially, with family and friends. Decisions, decisions...

Over the summer we bought a Samsung 8500 series 65" 4k TV and I have a HTPC with a 980 ti.  With the game mode on the TV it looks pretty good and really don't notice much tearing but I don't have the GPU horsepower to max out everything.
