Which CPU Should I Choose For my Rig?

Hello all,

Before I start, I want to say that I'm not new to computer building. :)

Lately, I been deciding on building a new computer. Currently, I'm using a late 2012 Mac Mini with 16GB of memory and a 480GB SSD. It's definitely show it's age, especially after updating to macOS Sierra. It can barely run my Adobe programs, Unity 3D, Android Studio and Unreal Engine 4. After reading the previous sentence, it should be obvious that I'm a content creator, as well as a app developer, so having a rig that is extremely powerful is a must at this point. This is what my PC parts list looks like: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GrdWzM

When I was building the PC on PCPartPicker, however, I was facing a dilemma. What CPU should I choose for my rig? An Intel Core i7-6950X or an Intel Xeon E5-2690 V4? All help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

You don't need that much of power my friend. Get a 6800k

It's has that much power, because I wanted to make it future proof. Plus, I wanted to make it overkill.

You don't quite need that much power, a 6900K would more than suffice, but,

I'd go for the 6950X, with this cooler:

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

Pyo.

I totally agree with you, it is. I just wanted it to be future proof and as crazy as possible.

It doesn't seem necessary at this moment. Maybe later on down the road. :)

well a 6950x and dual Titan X Pascal doesn't seem necessary either. ;)

and might as well get 4x16 instead of 8x8 for future proofing, it doesn't effect much if anything at all.

a 6900k is crazy and future proof. A 6950x is stupid.

A 6950X for 90% of the use cases out there is EXRTEMELY stupid.

But there are valid reasons to get it. Small dick syndrome.

Yeah, I can agree with you about the dual Titan Xs, but after watching JayzTwoCents video on dual Pascal Titan Xs, it inspired to go crazy with the GPUs.

Personally? I'd go for Xeon for a workstation style build, but at that level, it's really probably just a matter of preference. Both a Bat-Shit crazy.
