Buying parts secondhand is a common, effective way to get a part for cheap, as many people just want to make a quick buck off of their part and are aware that it's lost its value over time, and so they'll sell their parts for cheaper than retail (sometimes much cheaper). You can get some pretty decent graphics cards like the AMD Radeon HD 7970 for well under $100, essentially getting a more powerful card than something like an RX 460 or GTX 1050 Ti for cheaper. If you want some inspiration, LTT actually has a series called Scrapyard Wars where they build killer gaming rigs out of used parts for insanely low prices.

 

 

If you prefer your parts new, I'd recommend waiting for sales to occur or buy outdated (but still decent parts) like the R9 Fury, as they're sometimes sold at a discount but are still recent enough to be relevant. Being subscribed to getting deals such as offer codes through the email from retailers like Newegg might be a good way to go, though it'll certainly clutter your email, as they may not sell hardware you're looking for at a discount. You could also use a site such as http://pcpartpicker.com which will show you the current lowest price for a part or parts list among a list of retailers.

If you need windows then don't buy the OEM Version for 100 bucks , but rather buy an activation code off of Reddit for 10-20 bucks. But keep in mind that you need an USB stick with the windows installation copy but that's easy to get

If you're wanting a cheaper build first get cheaper parts, not necessarily worse parts though.

 

The msi pro carbon board and x99 platform is already more expensive then z170 and 1151, and the pro carbon board was designed to be expensive, a 6700k will give similar performance to a 5820k. Dominator platinums are just to suck money out of people you can find cheaper gskill kits and 3000mhz is unecessary over a 2400kit unless your cpu is at 100% constantly.

 

You can also find 1080s for $100 cheaper.

Plus you can find decent cases for half of the price of that mastercase.

 

Same performance, $570 cheaper.
