I'm trying to remotely connect to my laptop from my main rig. My main rig is running Win10 home and my laptop is running Win10 Pro. I've made sure all the settings are correct. When I try to connect to the laptop, I type in my credentials correctly. but it says "The logon attempt failed". I don't know why it is saying this when I'm sure everything is correct. Can i have some help pls? Thx.

Are you using a domain? Im guessing your typing it in wrong though.

I'm just typing in the computer name. Then it asks me for username/password and such. The thing is though I'm typing in everything correctly

If you're not using a domain try putting a \ in front of the username so it doesn't try to use a domain name, sometimes it helps.

Also, see what happens if you completely disable the firewall.

Try inputting the username with the hostname of the laptop before. So if the computer is called "Tom-Laptop" and the username is "Tom" you would type "Tom-Laptop\Tom" - this makes sure the computer knows it's a local account. Also, if you have the same username on both computers, they should have the same password. Windows gets weird if you have the same username with different passwords.

Edit: Also, on the laptop, make sure that remote logins are enabled, and that the user is either an administrator, or explicitly added to the list of remote desktop users.
