My phone doesn't use the 16GB SD card for some reason.

It only uses internal data.

I don't know if there's a problem or me just being plain stupid. :I

What Android version?

Does your phone recognize the card? Does the card work in other phones?

Also, in your settings, there should be a setting (in storage) called "default storage location" and have two options: SD card or Internal Storage. If you pick SD card, it'll store anything new to the SD card, and vice versa. That page will also tell you if your phone even recognizes that it has an SD card in it.

Are you talking about the camera? You may have to manually go into the settings for the camera and set the default storage to Memory Card. As for applications being installed in internal memory, well that's Android for you. You don't want to be installing anything on the SD card because of speed and reliability issues.

Android phones running Android 4.4.2 or higher have crippled SD card support. Thank your lovely friend, Google.

I mean, my Honor 5x (Android 6.0) accepted my SD card no issues. It's a Sandisk Ultra II I think

Look into those settings I mentioned. See if your  phone even recognizes the SD card.

What I meant to say is that Android versions beyond 4.4 are very picky about what you can and cannot put on your SD card.

Apps are locked to editing files in their own folders only, yet oddly can delete and create files anywhere.

For instance, it baffles me that I cannot rename a picture file inside the Photoshop Express folder without first moving it to my Downloads folder.

From there, I can rename it, and copy it back to the Photoshop Express folder. It makes no sense.
