Okay, it detects al 4 cores, i just don't understand if it is just windows or is it false advertising

It is windows this is a known problem with it and amd cpus.

Hey guys, recently i bought a new laptop, with an A10 8700p processor in it, it's supposed to have 4 cores clocked al 1.8 Ghz, but both Windows and Cinebench R15 tell me it's a dual core chip, is there a way to know if my system is just using 2 of them or is it actually using all four cores?

Also, by the way, supposedly when in Turbo Mode it goes up to 3.2 Ghz, is that something I have to activate or is it automatic?

I think you wer confusing threads and cores. Looks like there are two physical cores and 4 threads.

That stopped being a problem in windows 7.

No thats just AMD, their "quad" cores are only 2 physical cores, six cores are 3, 8 cores are 4. They base it on the logical cores rather than physical cores.

There are 4 physical cores on the cpu, windows just reports it weird for amd cpu because of the 1 fpu per two cores, it does have 4 physical cores on the cpu though.

Then you're problem is solved nothing to worry about. just carry on ;) but slide the 2 last to 50% for better performance.

Is there any test to be sure it's actually using two cores? because I heard Cinebench only works with Threads or am I wrong?

The cinebench score seems right for that.

So it seems like it is working fine.

This is showing 190 points for it, so a little bit slower, but there is a margin of uncertainty in the test to account for that.
