did you increase voltage, power and temp limits?

also i would be sure that your card has the thermal pads and new VBIOS installed (so the card doesn't... blow up)

Yeah I installed the pads today and have the new VBIOS installed. But I've left the power limit at 100 and temp target at 83.

this is my first gpu overclock btw, before on my other systems I was too worried about it and let the misconceptions get to me. So I'm a noob.

are you using MSI afterburner? if so i am thinking it comes with RTSS, an overlay program? turn it on, along with settings called "power limit" and "voltage limit". and run the benchmark again. if you see either or both of those pop up often in the overlay, you have reached the limits, making the card backing off your overclock. raise voltage and power limits so it won't back off as severely.

or you can follow this

Turn the power limit up all the way. Same with temp target. It won't damage anything or harm your card in anyway but will allow for higher clocks. After increasing the clocks to where it starts to crash, start increasing the voltage as well.

flip the BIOS switch on the card, it'll give you a max power limit of 120% Might help.

Haven't tried overclocking my 1070 FTW yet, but I'm getting boost clocks at 2012Mhz so I don't feel the need right now
