would be ok to buy  the 1050 and add it with that cpu +8gb of ram ddr3 at 1600mhz untll he gets a new rig with i5 and all the goodies?

If you are planning to get an i5 with everything i would at least get an rx 470/rx 480/ GTX 1060.

 

A gtx 1050 will hold it back a lot and isn't a great match for an i5. an i3 would be more ideal.
