if you're gonna do streaming/rendering/editing/recording its a good combo. if you're just gaming its not 'bad' per se but its unnecessary.

You could go for an i5 and be able to save enough for a 1070.

I don't game at a high enough resolution or frame rate for a 1070. (1080P 60FPS)

Eh, more gpu power isn't gonna hurt you. There is maybe 2-3 fps difference between i7 and i5, but more than 20 between 1060 and 1070

You definitely wont have upgrade for a long time if you get an i7 now but for playing at 60Hz the i5 will do more than fine.
