I am new to this stuff so forgive me.

I recently purchased the Sapphire Radeon Rx 480 4gb and it arrived today. I installed it and updated the drivers just to be disappointed. From what I have seen, it appears my card is underperforming by quite a bit. I opened up csgo and was only getting around 60-100 fps but I've seen others with this card get 200-300.

CPU: Amd A6-6400k 3.9ghz

RAM: 2x4gb g skill

Any help would be appreciated.

your APU is the bottlenecker here

you need to step up to at least the Athlon 860K or 880K

Rip. Would an A10-6800k improve it?

the A10 is a waste of money

the 880K is only 30 dollars cheaper

No point in wasting money on an APU when your running with a gpu.  The graphics core on it is just gunna sit there unused.  With the platform your running I doubt your going to get the performance your looking for.

Case - NZXT H6 Flow : Mobo - ASRock X670E PG Lightning : PSU - Deepcool PX1000G : CPU - AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D w/Arctic Freezer III 360  : Memory - G.Skill Ripjaws S5 32gb 6000mhz CL30 : GPU - MSI Expert 4080 Super : Storage - Verbatim Vi7000G 4tb NVME SSD  : Displays - Gigabyte 32" M32QC Curved 165hz & 27" M27Q Pro 165hz 1440p

If I bought an AM3+ board and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113287 would I still bottleneck?

you are gonna waste money

you will need a new CPU altogether

and it still more outdated than your current unit

So would it be better to buy an FM2+ board and get the 860k?

stop wasting money on the AMD platform

i am serious, you are better off even with an Intel i3-6100 and a nice B150/H170 board and DDR4

If you absolutely want to stay with AMD, you need to wait for Zen CPUs. If not, go Intel. AMD's current CPU offerings are garbage.
