So i am planning to build a Workstation/Vm host(using unraid) and therefore using a dual lga 2011-3 socket mainboard,

but because i'm on a "tight" budget(around 2000€) i wanted to know if you could give me your opinion about the configuration listed below.

Other Parts:

  • ASRock EP2C612 WS Intel C612 2x So.2011-3 Quad Channel DDR4 SSI EEB
  • Intel Xeon 1620v3
  • evga SuperNova 750 GQ
  • GTX 1070 Gaming x G8
  • GTX 950 Gaming G2 (already have this card)
  • Crucial BX200
  • Seagate 1TB Desktop HDD
  • Phanteks Enthoo Pro
  • 32 gb ram

What it should be capable of:

  • Hosting 2-3 Vms at the same time, 2 ready for gaming the third for something like a Server(TS,dedicated game Servers)

I already thought about using an Asus Z10PE-D16 WS Workstation board, but at first i wanted to ask if i can use non-ecc ram on that ASRock board (http://www.asrockrack.com/general/productdetail.asp?Model=EP2C612 WS#Specifications)

Thanks already :D

Sry. for bad english

pretty sure you CAN run non ECC memory but AFAIK all RDIMM RAM is ECC(just looked this up lol) and i cant find any solid information on LRDIMM but i would guess thats also ECC

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)
