GTX980Ti or GTX1070?

Hi ! I was wondering which GPU would be more worth as i might be getting one of them soon in about a month's time .
I can get a Gigabyte GTX 980ti Windforce 6GB at SGD$500
And the GTX1070 Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming 8GB at SGD$600
*NOTE ALL PRICES LISTED ARE ESTIMATES AS OF NOW PRICE THAT I FOUND*
Which GPU would be the better price for around $100 price difference ?

They're pretty much in the same performance tier with the 1070 a bit better.

It does seem like the 980 Ti has a better value if you're getting it for 84% the price, so this is really up to you. You will miss out on stuff like Ansel if you get the older card.

Get the GTX 1070 it beats the GTX 980Ti and even the Titan X (Maxwell) in gaming.

1070 unless 980Ti is lower cost enough to make up for it. In practical performance I find them close enough, at least for uses which don't use the new features in 1070.

GTX 1070 CUDA cores - 1920

GTX 980 Ti CUDA cores - 2816

In specific workloads (3D Modelling for a example) that's a nice bump in performance

If you can get the 980ti closer to SGD$400 you should buy the 980ti. If we're talking about paying full price just stick to the 1070 ;)

You're forgetting that cuda cores can't be compared across architectures. It's not as simple as MOAR IS BETTER

-Newer architecture

-More features

-Less heat, less power draw

-More Vram

-Better longevity

-Slightly better performance out of the box

Cores are only half the equation, clocks are the other. While the 1070 has fewer cores, it makes up for it with much faster clocks. You could argue it give or take an overclock, but overall the 1070 still comes out ahead most of the time.

For 100 less, I'd take the 980 Ti if you have a nice PSU. You aren't even going to notice the smaller VRAM, since 6 is plenty already. Besides, a fully overclocked 980 Ti (1500 Mhz or so, if you're lucky) will smoke any overclocked 1070. So I'd say 980 Ti.
