Xbox One or PS4 controller?

Xbone controllers seem to have more support on Windows, as Microsoft actually has official drivers for it and Windows 10 supports them natively.

And the DS4 uses DirectInput which is a standard Windows has supported since 95. It's native, too. The problem nowadays is lots of game developers only supporting Xinput for some reason even though it is rather limited by comparison.

Anyway, I would go with the DS4. You don't need to buy batteries, it works over bluetooth without some proprietary dongle, and the USB port doesn't break in a matter of weeks. And once you install SCP, DS4Windows or InputMapper, whichever you wanna choose, you get full Xinput support, full remapping, automatic profiles, macros, and touchpad functionality, which is a lot more than you get with an Xbox controller unless you spend $150 on the elite.

Besides, I find it a heck of a lot more comfortable, but that's just my opinion, I suppose.

I wasn't implying DS4 or anything else that would potentially work for the OP doesn't. All I was saying was that you have a better chance of everything actually working with an Xbone controller, and since I can actually attest to the Xbone controller working, I was able to actually recommend it honestly; you know, since I actually have one working on my own system and not going off of what someone else says.

Is this your personal experience with the Xbone controller?

Not mine, but multiple friends who've had to go buy the wireless adapter because after about a month or so their controllers kept disconnecting through USB because of the port on the controller. One of them even tried taping the connector to the controller which looked janky as hell.

That tends to happen on small connectors like that as they'll often get unintentionally abused. While unfortunate, I think it's better than a proprietary cable.

Also, I forgot to mention that the revised Xbone controllers do have actual Bluetooth support this time. I only bought the proprietary one since I got it on sale and I don't use anything else Bluetooth related for my PC.
