770 vs 280X

Go to solution Solved by Dim,

I would get the 280X. Think of it as a HD 7970, which is generally sliiightly better than a GTX 680 - which is effectively what the GTX 770 is.

Personally I got a GTX 680 for the looks, and because it has two DVI ports.

If you want raw performance, though, 280X is probably the way to go.

I was planning on getting a 280X

However i noticed that the prices of the 770 were going down to around the same price.

Which one should i get ?

Thanks

When the prices decrease, get the GTX 770. The coolers are nicer.

Is the 770 faster ?

Will the VRAM matter

The GTX 770 is as fast. Sometimes slower, sometimes faster. If you can, get a 4GB card. It will be better for future expansion.

the 770 has fewer faster ram. Performance wise, when they are both overclocked to the max with a good aftermarket cooler, they are pretty much equal. So get what is cheaper of what fits the esthetics of your rig...

I may just get the 280X

I was expecting the 770 to have better performance, because of the higher proce point. However looking at some benchmarks the 290X is better.

It also has mantle, and i will be playing a lot of BF4
