Why most games doesn't use 64 bit?

nokturrduk84
Go to solution Solved by FatalWaffles,

The Steam Hardware Survey for September 2013 has over 50% of the users who participated as using a 64bit OS. http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/

As for why a lot of games don't use 64bit? It would seem that a lot of them don't need to. However we may be seeing that change in the near future. A few examples of it already changing are Crysis 3 (like you stated), Battlefield 4, and Call of Duty: Ghosts. Battlefield 4 has a 64bit launcher (and recommends using 64bit) and CoD: Ghosts will require 64bit

I'm just curious, why most modern games still doesn't use 64bit mode?

I only know Warframe and Crysis 3 which support 64bit...

Because most games don't need to utilize more than 4 gigs of ram?

on a side note, Naruto ultimate ninja storm 3 full burst seems to actually utilize multiple cores on my pc which is awesome, but it doesn't require that much ram.

to those saying it's because people use 32 bit operating systems, Crysis still works on 32 bit, just not as well.

if something doesn't require the resources why open the resources for it? blame consoles for now.

Why most games doesn't use 64 bit?

Because they are gamers and parents bought them 32bit OS or came in preinstalled 32bit?

Gamers =/= power users. If you use something like Photoshop and other apps like that for photos or videos and need MOAR RAM (www.downloadmoreram.com) then its best to have 64bit OS installed.

but it was mostly to be taken as a joke and an indication that there are people ill informed enough to actually believe these things.

anyways on a serious note a lot of xbox / console exclusives seem to be making their way to pc, Enslaved odyssey to the west got released right after naruto  :o

I don't understand the existence of something that limits something. 32bit windows versions should be gone forever!
