Now, or Never - $1500 CAD Black Friday/Cyber Monday Build

Oook.  So if anyone has visited this forum over the past two years, they may have seen me post about a potential build list/planning.  I've been looking to get a gaming PC, so I can stop being a console peasant, experience actually good textures and high framerates (like anything better than the 30 I get with my x box 360).  I've saved up and have enough money for basically any configuration (nothing too crazy though) and am comfortable spending around $1500 for the PC.  I want a premium feeling build, that is able to game very comfortably at 1080 (for the time being on a crappy 60hz monitor) with potential down the line to upgrade in a few years.  So far, with the new GPU's and the Canadian dollar in the state it is in a 1070/1080 seems to be out of the question.  I've put together a build consisting of black friday/cyber monday deals which include mail-in rebates.  Here it is:  https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/p8szFd 

 

I've been waiting for a long time to find the right time to buy, my question to you all, is, is it now?  Do you see anything wrong with this build?  What would you change?  Will these components result in a satisfying AAA 1080p gaming experience that is noticeably superior to current generation gaming consoles (x1/ps4)?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think GTX 1060 6GB would be better choice.

It's basically directly tied to crude prices.  Soooo yea.

Go for the z170-a as the pro doesn't give much more and the a is cheaper.

I saw that, but it really clashes with every aesthetic choice I have made (black and red) and for 10 bucks more I get ambient LEDs.  (that sounds really bad hahahha)

Isn't having ability to OC better, for down the line/immediately in CPU intensive games, particularly at this price point?

The build looks pretty good to me, but I think you're spending too much on the motherboard (although it's a great motherboard and the one that I just bought).

Do you really need 16GB of ram right now? If you're not doing content creation, then I would stick with 8GB and upgrade in a year or so.

The Samsung 850 Pro SSDs have been on decent sales too, you may want to look into those compared to the corsair.

I can't get that SSD, that is the american Newegg site.  Also, if I get 16gb now, i will be set and never need to consider an upgrade for the pc's life span

What about the motherboard? Is there a specific feature that this board has that you need? If you want to bring the price down, the motherboard is the best option as it doesn't decrease performance. I can help you find a new motherboard with some specific features if you want.

I'm looking for z170 obv, great bios for OC cpu, black colour scheme, optical audio output (is essential), M.2 slot. and led lighting.

 

*edit* won't the mobo significantly mediate my ability to OC?

Is lighting really necessary, you can always add an NZXT Hue later on

Yeah, I couldn't find anything cheaper with an optical output. You could always get an adapter, but that would cost more.

Are you alright with the build, or do you still need to bring the price down? It's a good build imo.

well it isn't a must, but it is a nice bonus.  Plus if i get the asus rx480 I can sync them with the aura software.   I just don't know if I will be satisfied with the performance of the 480.... I originally wanted to go for 1440p gaming, but the monitors are just crazy expensive in Canada, also our GPU prices are insane, far above just a converted USD price, so I really don't know what to do.

Well, spend what you are willing to spend on a PC. I saved for about 4 years for the PC in my signature that I just ordered, and it's worth it for me because I do pretty much everything on my PC. I do video editing, gaming, programming, etc. Think to yourself about if it's worth it to spend this much on a computer and how much use you will get out of it. Good luck

Yea, i mean It's main purpose will be gaming.... so for just gaming and regular internet browsing I don't know if it is really justified, thanks @njmyers3for all your valuable input, it is much appreciated!!
