So I bought some UV ledstrips but I doubt they are really UV. They seem very bright purple. I am wondering does anyone know if it is possible to have real UV. A.k.a. Blacklight within a led strip? Because I dont want to get a simple purple led strip again that is called UV when it's not actually UV but just purple

It depends on the exact wavelengths. Some UV LEDs are close to visible range, and as they emit over a range of wavelengths. There can be a little making it to the eyes detectable range. A test to see if it is UV or purple is to point it at something that fluoresces, and see if it does. On a similar note, if you look at the more traditional UV tubes, they also glow a faint purple when on.

Unless you are getting very expensive lights most will be in between the UV and visible light spectrum so they will have a purple tinge. A simple way to check to to take some UV reactive material to test to see if they glow.

Oh yes I know a normal uv/blacklight also has a faint purple tint, but the led strips I have now just seem regular bright purple. Of course regular bright purple also makes orange slightly fluerescent, but it's not quite the same. Thats why i am looking for led strips that have these traditional black light glow.

So yeah where do you guys order the real deal? Because I got these "UV led strips" from banggood but they seem like regular bright purple leds and I doubt it will look nice in my case

For decent UV LED's Cable Mods and Darkside both make some really good ones. Sounds like the ones you got are more in the visible light spectrum than UV side of things.

Guys, a blacklight is simply UV-A, which is the UV light CLOSEST to the visible spectrum. It is GOING to be purple. The LEDs appear more purpleish because they're brighter than your typical UV light.

ok so mine are alright afterall? they just appear very purple. Like literally red and blue mixed
