Which PC would YOU buy and why

 

Case: Inwin GONE

i7 6700

16GB RAM

2TB HDD

256GB SSD M.2

GTX 1070

 

 

or  Case: Inwin 707 Mid tower

 

i7 6700k

16GB RAM

2TB HDD

250GB SSD SATA

GTX 980Ti

 

Both watercooled

 

The first PC is £40 cheaper, which PC would YOU buy and WHY?  for 1080p

1st, same performance (ish as 980ti) but less power draw so meaning less heat in my room.

 

Both overkill for 1080p.

They're not overpowered, they can't even run GTA V max settings at 1080p which is the only game really I play, which you would buy? for GTA V

GTA V is CPU intensive, the i7 6700k has a higher clockspeed than the i7 6700. And the GTX 1070 is = to the GTX 980TI. either are fine really, but if its only a 40 pound difference I'd choose that. especially if you want to overclock .

Pascal draws more than Maxwell.

 

My choice is the 2nd unless the M.2 is NVMe.

Not really. it fully supports DX12 because its a GTX 900 series, so I don't see why you wouldn't choose it other than excessive power draw.

I don't know how to Overclock though, so would you still pick the 2nd PC even without overclocking it just because of the higher clock speed?

980 is to be compared to the 1080. 980 Ti should be compared to the 1080 Ti, if there'll be one.

I have a i7-4790K with a stable overclock saved to the board just in case I need it.

 

Edit: Yes. Better to have the ability than to need it.

The 980 Ti doesn't take much more wattage that I would necessarily worry. But if comparing the 1070 and 980 Ti, yes, the 1070 is better.

That's not entirely true. They tend to only give priority to the current gen cards for best performance and the effect trickles down to the rest. You can also sell the 980 Ti for about $350 and buy yourself a 1080 instead.
