I recently discovered I had some bad ram, the ram I have is XMS3 —8GB Dual Channel DDR3 Memory Kit (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9) only 1 stick is bad, but I was wondering if I needed to match the memory exactly.

I found one really close to it http://amzn.to/1a9mWOz but the last part of the name is different (CMX4GX3M1A1600C11) Now does that even matter? Sorry if this is a really dumb question, I just want to get it right the first time. Thanks for any help.

The timings are different but it will not likely make a difference.

Definitely NOT compatible. One is clocked for a CAS latency of 11, while what you have is at a value of 9. You could force the timings to match, but that's probably an unstable configuration.

The timings will likely match together.

After doing some further research, the DIMM will simply match the slowest one(this includes timings as well). You can purchase the DIMM with no issues.

You can get that too. If you decide to go with the DIMM provided in the OP, and the timings don't automatically align, you can do it manually in the BIOS. If the memory settings though are on Auto, they should simply match.

The little difrance can sometimes be due to binning maketing and performance. Sometimes making a big to a inmesurale difriance. Sometimes for the voltage, timing, or freq. Try to compare the specs. Sometimes its just the bining and how well the can overclock [if people even still do that for AMD APUs. More of maketing like some say 7.1 surround sound]

To love is to risk not being loved in return. To hope is to risk pain. To try is to risk failure, but risk must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
