I love my note 7.  I don't want to get rid of it.   However I am faced with constant prompts to update to the new software version which will break the phone, get text messages about it every couple days.  And have a wife who works in the Insurance industry and is really pushing me to get rid of it.

The problem is that I can't find a phone that hits all the high points the Note 7 did.

My cell is my personal and work phone.  I quite literally lose money if I have phone problems.  So it is a big deal to me.  Lost a 350,000 sale because of someone being unable to contact me while my Note was going though the first exchange.  It makes a person paranoid.

Here are my options so far.

Galaxy S7 Edge.

This is the most obvious choice.  Same processor.  Same version of Android.  IP68 rated which I have come to love and wireless charging.

However the screen is slightly smaller.  The sharper curve of the screen makes it a bit harder to hold.  No USB3

More importantly though it only has  a 32Gig option.  I know it is expandable but Samsung limits the usability of the expansion storage.

Pixel XL.

Looks like a good phone.   Big beautiful screen that is almost as good as the samsung.  It does have USB3.  Fast updates from google.   128Gig version.

However it is not rated for any water or dust resistance.  It seems to be a big bigger than the other phones for the same screen size.  I have also heard mixed reviews on the battery life which is very important too me.

LG V20.

I had not considered this phone till I saw it in the store the other day.

USB3 charging. Big beautiful screen even without the curve.  Seems to be nice and thin.   Comes with Android 7 already!

However no Water or dust protection because of the stupid replaceable battery.  (I know some people love them but to me they are just one more gimmick that never gets used and leads to problems)

Most importantly I just don't know much about the phone.  The Verizon employee seemed very luke warm on the LG phones due to return rate.  Don't know overall reliability, camera and screen quality, etc.

iPhone 7 Plus

The old Standby for me.   Never really had a problem with my iphones in the past.  They just work well.

Multiple storage options, works with many of the accessories and things I have here at home without 3rd party apps and good local support thorugh the apple store.

On the down side I do like a number of the features in the newer version of android.   And the 7 is pretty stale.  It is at best a minor revision on the 6.

Tell my tale to those who ask. Tell it truly; the ill deeds along with the good, and let me be judged accordingly.

You numpty

And to be honest, all of these phones will satisfy you, it's just a matter of picking whisch one looks best or fits in your hand best or whatever.

EDIT: out of all the new phones now, I'd definitely pick this one though:http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_xz-8313.php

Cases exist for a reason in case grip is a concern. Samsung kinda screwed themselves over when they pulled a Microsoft and skipped a version numerically. Had the "Note 6" bombed, the Note 7 would have been their savior instead of a fire meme lol

If your used to Samsung's UI, then the S7 Edge is pretty good, but for the storage wise, the pixel XL is a better bet, and it is in a way waterproof, as seen here, so I mean whatever you choose it should get the job done, also I would avoid the V20, LG phones tend to have an issue that LG doesn't seem to ever fix, the boot-loop, a quick google will show some users facing it on the V20, an issue that has been on every LG phone since the G4.

Video below in-case you want to see how the pixel handles water.

Not to mention you're not allowed to bring it on flights, domestic or international. If they catch you, the confiscate it, and it's considered a federal offense since it's technically a fire hazard.
