Headphones for rock

I haven't tried the SR80s but, I got the 225es over the summer and I am SO HAPPY I got them. They sound amazing. It's like you are listening to the song all over again because you hear so much detail. I let my old roommate listen to them when I received them and he heard parts of this song that he never heard before and it was a song that he commonly listened to.

I wanna say Grado SR80, but they might be too bright for badly recorded rock music (i.e. Jesus and Mary Chain - Psychocandy). But they work so well for "glossy" produced "classic" rock like Pink Floyd.

....Yeah, go with Grados.

Not sure honestly. I just rolled the dice and bought them off of Amazon. Every pair of Grado headphones is rated pretty highly by consumers.

Find yourself a local audio shop. Most dedicated audio shops sell GRADOs. They're kinda like the gateway drug to audiophillia, which is the equivalent of alcoholism for headphones.

Grado has the kinda sound you either like or dislike, I have the GS1000i and HAD the PS1000, sold off the latter because I didn't like the way it sounded....a tad dark, and bass that sounded very 'thick', perhaps boomy. Maybe it didn't jell well with my audio chain but certainly wasn't a keeper. The GS1000i has this great treble sparkle that Grado's are known for, plus there's something really special about its bass which is powerful yet tight, and maybe 'fast' ? (I truly suck at describing a sound:$ ).

I'd suggest OP try out the cans before getting it, it's a case of either "love 'em, or hate 'em"......
