Hey guys, I was looking for a new graphics card this season and wanted to know which card you thought was better, an 8gb 480 or a 1060 6gb.  I'm going to get either the sapphire nitro 480 or the asus dual 1060.  I'm a little turned off by he lack of an sli bridge on the 1060 so that's a con for nvidia.  Other than that, I have no fanboyish feelings for either side, so I'm pretty open about the cards rather than company, thanks in advance!

I would do a 4GB 480. I see no sign of 8GB being necessary to play games at high settings (only crazy insane settings or the like may require it) and the 4GB 480 is just as fast as the 8GB, unlike the 3GB 1060 which is cut down by 11%.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

I generally recommend a 1060 unless you're looking into freesync. I personally don't think rx 480 crossfire is a good route to go, as you'd probably end up being better off just selling your 480 and getting a better GPU when you want to upgrade.

You shouldn't be doing CFX/SLI with these low end cards anyway so no SLI bridge literally does not matter at all.

Their products are fine. But since they openly support G2A and Kinguin, I do my best to lose them as much money as possible. I've been fairly successful. :D

Yup. They're involved in fraud and rip off companies and users. There are many residents here that will say "but it's cheap and I don't care about principles", but I support buying legitimate products off of legitimate resellers and companies like Sapphire should do it too even if users are fine with fraud/piracy.

buying a key is not buying a license. purchase at your own risk; risk having your windows authentication revoked and go through the trouble of talking to a MS call center

That's like saying addicts should be liable for the crimes committed by drug cartels, or that it's "their fault" that they've become addicted. It's attributing guilt to the victim (in the case of fraudulent keys, anyone who didn't know and got one is a victim, less so if they do know).

SLI is not needed on the 1060.

I have a 3GB 1060 and I'll tell you this...the GPU is perfectly capable of Ultra settings but the VRAM gets swamped at only 3GB. I was terribly disappointed. 6GB is a must if you want to get your money from the 1060.

My older games like Battlefield 4 run great on Ultra at about 120 FPS but games like Rise of the Tomb Raider actually crash due to graphics on Ultra.

I can run everything on the highest settings except textures...the one I actually want at the highest setting.

Let me add that some of my games flirt with 4GB of VRAM. 4GB is rapidly becoming "not enough".

Go with a card with more than 4GB of VRAM. I think 4GB is enough today but I'm sure it will fall short on some newer titles if you want everything maxed out.
