PCI Still relevant?

Just wondering what you guys think. Is PCI still relevant these days? 

 

Personally, I'd say no. But I figure I'd check to see what other people would say.

No, pretty much every modern add-in card uses PCIe (or in the case of SSDs, m.2)

I would say yes. There are many old server or expansion cards that perform well and can be bought for cheap should they be needed. For the average user, no.

They are PCIe not PCI.

PCI is from over a decade ago when SSDs did not yet exist.

yep a lot of cards do not need PCIe speed and therefore do not need to consume PCIe lanes. I have two gigabit NICs in my PCI slots

Right, but why not just swap out the PCI lanes for PCIe? More compatibility options

that would be determined by Intel & AMD. the next generation should have more PCIe lanes. btw PCI-X is pretty much dead
