While I wouldn't play chances with this processor, it seems that since it's an OEM CPU (No price in Intel ARK), it might not be listed under the supported processors. The processor itself may still work fine with a possible warning about an unsupported CPU. For example the E5-2698-v4 is a very similar CPU other than clock speeds. On pure specification it should work, other than validation from ASUS.

Yea, that's why I wouldn't play chances. This would be similar to buying Intel Engineering Samples.

If that's the only problem, you can add them manually if BIOS modding doesn't scare you: http://www.overclock.net/t/1577530/guide-how-to-update-the-cpu-microcode-on-the-x99-ami-bios

You're better off asking the seller about that. This is an OEM chip and will not be listed in official support anywhere. The only way to get 100% certainty is by trial and error. One seller on eBay reports:

 

 

But they don't specify which. Message them and ask them. Make sure they have a return policy. Chances are an updated Sabertooth X99 would actually function fine with it, there's just a small chance that it would not.
