Hi there,

So I introduced my friend to pc gaming and now he is so hyped that he actually wants me to build him a pc.
I only did it once and I asked you guys for help back then. I can build the pc but I am not sure if all the parts I selected go together.

This is the build I came up with: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/8K9n8K

I got another 500GB HDD from an old dekstop for some more storage.

I would like to hear what you guys think and if you have any suggestions please share them.

Thaanks :D

For that sort of system 8GB is fine but long term 16GB will become more useful. You could cut the price slightly there and upgrade as it becomes necessary.

Also, are you sure they want a full ATX system? I bought ATX but looking back mATX suits me far better and ITX would work fine. Just a personal size thing.

My Build: Night Fury | i5-6600k @ 4.5Ghz | R9 390 | 850 EVO 250GB | 1TB Seagate | H230 Black

Made a few edits. Better PSU and cheaper board. You can go even cheaper on the board to get 16gb of ram which i recommend as well.

Snip

Your PSU is poor quality for how much you're paying. get an EVGA G2 instead of their NEX series. similar price, but the G2 is higher quality. also you don't need 650W... 550 (the lowest G2 amount) is plenty. You also don't need such high quality units for a medium/low end build like this (medium-low end power requirements that is). You could get a CX450M and save yourself a ton of money. There are also cheaper SSD's out there that offer very similar performance. the MX300 275GB SSD should be a bit cheaper, have a bit more capacity, and only be slightly slower, but you're not going to notice the speed difference if you're not benchmarking it... also the SP550 240GB model should again be much cheaper, and only a bit slower than the MX300, but once again you're unlikely to notice the speed difference without benchmarking it. with how much you're spending on your motherboard you may be able to get a Z-series board for that cost that has similar or identical features (something like the Z170-HD3P from gigabyte). If you're not interested in overclocking ever, then that is okay... but getting a Z series board now for a similar price might be a good idea if you're ever considering it... or ever considering SLI

I would get a 1TB HDD (WD Blues are 49.99 USD) and go for a MX300 275GB SSD. The MX300 is only 10MBS slower (at peak) and the 1TB HDD is great for holding games, esspecially with game file sizes rising (80GB for Infinite Warfare... GG Activision/Infinity Ward)

This pc is bad, I would recommend 1070 as a minimum

a 1060 can game perfectly fine, making that assumption without knowing what resolution and/or hertz his monitor is and he'll be playing at, is a bit silly.

No, a 480 is better than 1060 and amd is dogshit. Better buy 1070 for long term

So true it hurts

He wants to game at 1080p and has a 144hz monitor.

If that is your target, 144hz, then you're going to need a more powerful machine.... an i5 6600 and 1060 will get you over 60 fps in a lot of your games at 1080p, but you're not going to land anywhere near 144fps most of the time (assuming reasonably high graphical settings). for that I would recommend i7 6700 (or some overclockable CPU), and a 1070. Its also worth noting that I've heard about issues and severe glitches when trying to run skyrim or fallout above 60 fps on the computer, so that may not even be possible on those games no matter what hardware you use.
