gaming and streaming mostly some light editing

I doubt he'll need 32GB of RAM then. He could also save some money by using a hard drive rather than an SSD for the secondary drive.

It's also a good idea to get into the habit of quoting people as most people do not auto-follow threads that they post in.

Hybrid ?

no he has two different ssd and i think killing the smaller one and replacing it with a hhd and using the ssd for you start up storage would save him a little money and make it where he can have more wiggle room with his pcie slots

im not sure if he knows anything about over clocking. i would push for him to do it in the longing run but i also don't know how much he knows about the subject, or is welling to learning how.

If he doesn't, or says he will never do it(doubtful of anyone who says that), he could go with a 6700 perhaps and purchase a Hyper 212 Evo instead. Though he will lose CPU performance since the 6700 does have a lower clock speed.

I think value is important even if you have the money to blow.

Since he will game+stream and even edit, it is not bad to have 32GB

But, is it necessary? The OP mentioned light editing, not heavy.

32 GB?

make him get a 6950X and a Titan XP, then when he can't afford food he'll realize how stupid that is. Alternatively, there's always this: https://www.redcross.org/donate/donation

he is about to go into the air force so im telling him to wait till he is out so it doesnt just sit around not getting used
