possible bottle-neck?

hi,

i have a i5-6400 paired with a asus gtx 1060 stix o6g. i am pretty sure this is the best 1060 out their but i only get 60 FPS on my games and no background programs, is my cpu the bottleneck? i play paladins, heroes and generals (surprisingly a heavy game to run), and steel ocean

You probably have v-sync enabled, which is something you should have enabled if your framerate exceeds your monitor's refresh rate.

i disabled v-sync but still 60fps

If your FPS is at a STEADY 60, and never showing anything above then, @Kloaked is 100% right and you have v-sync enabled.

 

If your FPS is "around" 60 but going higher and lower, you may have to adjust your graphics settings in game. What games are you playing and at what resolution?

Just to clarify, you never see the FPS go above 60? If that's the case then you have something installed or enabled that is limiting your frame rate to 60.

it sometimes goes to 61-65 fps, i dont know whats the problem

Run a game and turn all of the settings to low and tell us what FPS you're getting.

Which games though? this is very important. CSGO will run at 150 FPS on a potato where something like Witcher 3 on ultra will require run a lot slower.

Yeah something is holding your system back, then. Do you have anything like HW Monitor installed where you can see your temps and hardware

HW Monitor will show you all of your hardware, not just your GPU.
