I wouldnt try it. Its important to understand that the oven method is a temporary fix. You are better off just replacing the GPU.

not really . Lowering vram clocks can maybe help , but it will fail eventually.

Nah man... This is another one. This is my friends old gpu. He gave it to me to see if I can do anything with it.

A part of me assumes the monitor is the actual problem did you try another monitor?

search for part number written on VRAM

but if you don't have the right equipment to desolder the old and solder the new ones - forget it. BGA has solder balls below the chip, you can't do anything with a soldering iron, you need a specialised hot air station.

He has no money at the moment for a new PC. I gave him a Nvidia 450 GS 1GB for the moment.

Your basically helping him throw his garbage, should have charge him for the manual labor, you can do go through.
