hello, so does it means dual core? if one is 2.13 GHz another 2.14 GHz so that means its like 4,27? or does pc dont use both of them in the same time?

this question started on my mind because im have loptop witch is double core but it shows 2.20 GHZ not 1.10 and 1.10...

 

iknow its quite retarted question but can someone explai this>?

By default it runs at 2.13Ghz but your motherboard is running a configuration that makes it run at 2.14Ghz.

So it's like 0.something% overclocked, won't do any harm so don't worry about it :)

To answer your other question, no it doesn't get added up. If you drive 4 cars next to each other at the same speed then they all get to the destination at the same time. they don't arrive faster if you add more cars

I'll take up that analogy:

However, when your goal is not to arrive faster but to bring more luggage you can use more cars to carry it, instead of driving several times. Although, this only works with with workloads that can run in parallel like different programs or programs that can make use of it. Kind of how you can drive with 2 cars carrying 4 People each but you can not strap that IKEA furniture on top of two cars when it does not fit into one.

That's funny. Any time a non techy asks me about cpu I use lanes of a highway as an analogy. Ghz is your speed limit. Number Cores (threads) is your number of lanes. And GB of ram is your number  of passengers each car can hold. 

I know the ram part is off a bit but it gives them an idea.

Dual core just means you have two identical cores running task parallel to each other. 1st usually get more tasks which means it runs bit faster (power saving features and boost working).

As far as I can remember, threads in C2D (E6420 in this case) run at same clocks and there is no turbo boost. 

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

C2D does have turbo but its called something else and only adds one multiplier. However using throttlestop you force turbo when all cores are loaded regardless of heat and power use. This was overridden in the iseries where turbo was based on heat and power use rather than core load and renamed.
