Hello, everyone. I've found myself in a pickle.

So today, I got this video card for my PC:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01I5O5AP2/?tag=linus21-20&th=1

I opened it up, and found this little guy in the box when I pulled out the card. A photo is included with this post of it, it's like a little black rectangle. Another picture included will show where it looks like it might have come off.

So anyway, I plugged it into my PC and booted it up. Everything turned on, including the card, and at first I connected to the new video card.

Originally I was running on integrated graphics, so this is my first video card.

the monitor wouldn't receive any signals, also the keyboard wouldn't turn on. For some reason, the mouse did though.

so now, I feel like I've tried everything. I just don't know what the problem is. Please don't let my mother board be shot, this would be the second one I've had to replace.

ANY RESPONSE APPRECIATED

Did you break it? If not, could you return it back to amazon as DOA or something?

Was I helpful? Accept my answer or agree / mark me as informative!

Quote me, or I probably won't notice you responded to me!

Only Constructive Criticism is taken into consideration.

1) you plugged your GPU into a PC when it was obviously missing a component?? WHY???

2) did you try using integrated graphics again instead of the GPU?

3) why would it be your motherboard? what does your motherboard have to do with any of this? I thought you're talking about your GPU?

1. I looked it up, and mistakenly read that it might be a transistor which apparently doesn't matter very much if lost, so that's why I tried plugging it back in.

2. Yes, I did try. Nothing happened, but the PC still turned on. The monitor and keyboard still didn't work.

3. I though maybe the graphics card could kill the mobo if plugged in. I'm pretty scared right now.

So you thought the GPU can kill the motherboard, and you still plugged it in??

Btw that's not a transistor.

No, I thought that after do all of this.

Do you know why my monitor wouldn't be working?

Have you tested it with a different PC?

No, but I did try my PC with a VGA monitor and nothing showed up. I was using my PC perfectly fine earlier, until I tried using the card.

Well it definitely looks like the card damaged something.

The only way to find out what is trial and error, test the screen with a different PC, or test a different screen, etc...

Oh my goodness, this is awful news. What should I even do? I can't afford to get any new parts and I need this PC.

No you see, I noticed the damage after I realized the card wasn't working and thought to myself of the possibility of my motherboard being shorted out by the faulty card.
