How to get lighting gear?

I want to mess around with lights and experiment ways to light a subject etc. I live in the Bay Area/Northern California area and don't know how I should do it. I thought I could rent a grip truck but found out that they don't come with any actual lights. I can't find any places wear I can go and they will teach me. Any ideas?

Google

It can probably teach you more, for free, than any other source, paid or not.

For the Best builds and Price lists here is a world where many points of the price have been predefined already for your convenience!

The Xeon E3 1231 V3 IS BETTER Than the Core i5 4690K and a Significantly better value for the non-overclockers or value shoppers.

The OS is like a kind food, Try it before saying if you like it or don't.

but once I learn where do I go from there?

What I mean is I want to experiment with what I have learned but not sure how to.

Any suggestions on YT channels or blogs that explain?

No place where you can work as an intern or apprentice?

Just get some lights and start messing around with setups. You can get pretty cheap LED panels on Amazon and eBay now-a-days, though the quality can be decent, it's generally meh at best. I used to use those high wattage yellow work lights in college and still now for certain projects. They're cheap and easy to find, but they're hot as balls and you have to take the safety grille off so you don't have shadows, but they put out a crapton of light. You can even just get CFL fixtures and use them with simple reflectors, or DIY a softbox or two. The really good lighting gear, like any gear, is expensive as crap; but depending on what you're doing there's plenty of less expensive alternatives that will work just fine for your needs.
