Would this be a great replacement for gaming headphones?

Sento

Never dealt with that particular headphone so, being a fanboy of Sennheiser, Sennheiser HD 202 are really good.

AKG in General is nice. But best price to performance you will get from sennheiser. I have HD700 and IE80 from them.

for your use case: grab one form the HD line and the one who fits in sour budget

FOLDING MONTH 2021! GOGOGO and save on some heating costs 🙂

I haven't used AKG my self, my friends who have them do like them though. You could also look at options in the Sennheiser HD 400 line, those might be in the same price range. Something like this HD 451. I own some HD 439s as my closed pair and they're not bad. Although I'd vote for open options over closed. Not sure on Canadian pricing or what your budget is but if you have more to spend, could consider Senn HD 518s or Phillips SHP9500s for open or Audio Technica M40X for closed. But those cost more and all have their own sound, it depends on what you want out of these headphones.

What else would you use the headphones for? Any particular kind of music? Want to plug them into a laptop, phone, portable console? Would you use them while you're out of the house and/or in any noisy environments?

Do you live near any retail shops that specialise in audio products, or just a jack of all trades tech store? They may let you audition some headphones if you ask. Some might have booths with a whole bunch plugged into a system, could ask to try them on your phone and compare a bunch.

I do have some tech stores near me. (Such as Ncix and Newegg). But not sure they would let you try headphones.

Hm, can't hurt to ring up and ask. Hopefully they do. I looked up those AKGs on a site called "Head-Fi" and they seem to have positive reviews. I don't know what the community is like there so take it with a grain of salt but those look like they could be a good option. I can vouch that opens are nice to use, sound leak outside isn't that big of an issue unless someone is right next to you and even then they will barely hear anything. Stuff like computer fans and noise from peripherals that they let in isn't that bad either. Your brain just tunes it out after enough time. They have things going for them. Replaceable pads, cables. Comfort and the sound they give is praised too.

Sennheiser definitely does NOT have the best price to performance ratio out there - by a long shot.

I'm supposedly a person on the Internet, but you'll never know if I'm human or not ;)
