Why is this Corsair Dominator Platinum Series 32GB DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz C15 Memory Kit more expensive than this Corsair DOMINATOR Platinum Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3333MHz C16 Memory Kit when the second one is clearly better?

Not necessarily - C15 has less latency than C16, so in some cases would be better than fast mhz.

The lower MHz RAM costs more, that's the point

The second set is only currently available through a third party who has just jacked up the price. That is all.

Because its a third party seller, not directly from Amazon. Where-as the "better" one IS sold by Amazon who deals is way higher volume and gets better price breaks. It looks like the other kit was $272 when Amazon had it in stock, but it appears they are no longer going to carry it (been a month without restock and is not even listed as a seller with an ETA anymore).

 

There are much higher prices like this all over Amazon, you just rarely see it because Amazon puts their cheaper price dead center on the page.
