4K TV worth it?

Guest

So I might get a new 4K TV soon. Also I will maybe have enough for a 1060 6GB as my gpu so will do some gaming on 1080p and maybe on my 4K too. I know that it can not get good frame rate on 4K with 1060 but benchmark shows 22fps on very intensive games and lowering settings should give it steady 30fps ish.

Would it be worth to get a 4K? The budget for a TV is not included with the GPU.

Also I don't want to overspend on a TV and I have seen some cheap ones on newegg.

Example, VIZIO, cheapest 43" 4K, no review http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16889262540

Avera, positive review, bit pricier than VIZIO http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16889651008

Hisense, very large 50" 3rd cheapest http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16889290063

Refurbed Sharp or Samsung for around $500. More reputable brand and quality might be better but for a higher price tag.

So what is your recommendation on a nice TV?

Honnestly, i have no idea, but a friend of mine told to go for ''slightly'' high price for better quality. He said better get good brand cause some cheaper tv have terrible viewing angle and color quality. Online research will be more precise then me.

So take that with a grain of salt :)

I have a Vizio TV myself, although 1080p, it's never had any issues. I would recommend getting the Vizio TV. If at all possible, you should probably get a 1070 instead of a 1060. You'll get better performance, and it'll give you more benefit of buying a 4K TV.

i'm in the market for a new 4k 55" TV too.
The problem with cheaper models is the response time for gaming, the low refresh rate, the black levels, the colour accuracy and build quality obviously.

Some more probably.

Hence why i will go for the Samsung UE55KS8000. It's not cheap but it's not expensive either but as far as i've seen it offers a great middle course.

I'm also pretty sure you can run games nicely on 4k with a 1060. Low Quality but still 4k will look great.

If you wanna spend money on 4k, might as well go all the way and get a HDR capable one.  Prices should be high but it's where the industry is going right now.

I've never heard of the last two, but the VIzio is the same size and looks like the one in my living room though the model numbers are different.

LG UHD tv's are the best, especially since they can sell one with HDR for cheap, but its around 1000-1200€. I wouldnt even consider a tv below 800€, but yeah xD. If it were me, id get an LG tv.

Not crazy professional gaming at all. I am using a mediocre 1080p60hz monitor with no IPS. But thanks

If you go low enough you might still get playable framrates on a 1060 6GB on newer games, but yeah it won't be an easy run for it. Anyway make sure that the model (if it is early 4k this might be HDMI 1.4) can run HDMI 2.0 so that you have 60Hz support. Would say for 4k that the bigger the better, but yeah it still a tv. For input lag you can check this: http://www.displaylag.com/display-database/

What? You want me to spend two grand on a 34" monitor that can't be seen from 7 feet away? The Vizio does pretty well for gaming with the Steam controller or the wireless Logitech KB/trackball when it comes to Total War, YouTube, and 4K Blu-ray. Just make sure to disable the TV's post-processing effects for gaming.
