Hello everyone.

So my relative needs a new PC for trading. I don't have much knowledge on the requirements for trading/stock etc applications. He sent me a prebuilt PC link costing around 2000 $ish with an i7 6700k (with watercooling) and a really high end MoBo. While no budget has been set I am sure that a cheaper non overkill build, without having to cut any corners in performance would be preferred. They require a 3 monitor setup ( also please recoomend some 21-23 inch monitors). They do a lot of photo editing too but no gaming.

So can anyone recommend me a self built better PC at the same/lesser price than this?

 http://eztradingcomputers.net/desktop-trading-computers/  ( the  ULTRA-ZX EZ TRADING COMPUTER one)

Thank you in advance :)

I think a i5 would suffice, honestly I think more monitors and a good internet connection are more important.

Those pre-builts look bad. $1500 for a PC with a 6700 and a 120GB SSD? They won't even tell you want GPU is going in it, so there is like a $600-800 gray area. wtf does "8 monitor support" mean? Are they just gonna throw in 2-3 $50 GPUs for the outputs and then charge you $1000 more? I would never buy a PC when they won't tell you whats in it.

For a "trading" computer, a literal potato with good internet is perfect. For editing, well, it depends on how serious the editing is. If it's very light photo editing, then even an i3 is enough.

Those all look like absolute overpriced junk. "Thermaltake power supply" means a TR-2 time bomb is being placed into your $4,000 6950X PC.

Honestly, I don't see anything there that looks any more appealing than this for what you want to do:

That alone should more than do it.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Mmmm I don't think you need to spend $2k on a computer to use Bloomberg and a few spreadsheets on!

What apps exactly does he want to use? Check the system requirements for those apps.

if you really want i7: 1200$ cheaper, and I threw in a 1050 just for more monitor connectivity, so basically 1300$ cheaper than the prebuilt.

I don't know how exactly the stock trading workflow goes, so I'll focus on CPU power here. I'll also include a GPU with 3 DP connectors and 1 great IPS monitor for photo editing, plus two not as good ones for the rest.

The end result costs just below $2000, but a big part of the cost is the $600 monitor, which received the Editor's choice award over at tomshardware. The other two monitors weren't chosen for their performance, but because they were cheap and 1440p 27".

@Spiretec

Note the builds here are very loose recommendations.  We don't know much of the user's specific needs.  We know you do not need 3D acceleration, but you might need compute power that only a GPU will provide, unlikely... but possible.

If you can get us a list of programs that you will need to run, we can find out how they use hardware and properly guide you.
