What is better to spend? (Builds)

Go to solution Solved by Coaxialgamer,

500$ - gaming on a budget

1000$ - perf/$ sweet spot , the sane option

1500$ -sweetspot +

2000$- really getting into diminishing returns here , good for serious editing PC

3000$ -VERY serious editing PC , WAY too much on a PC solely for gaming

4000$ -Either you have demanding and specific computing needs , or you're compensating for something ...

As for server , it really depends on your needs and expectations, but these rules still somewhat apply .

as for peripherals , i woulnd't spend more than 200$ , not including monitor .

Hello guys, you may know me from asking my builds and stuffs, I still haven't bought my £2k PC (yet) but right now I'm doing this for fun and learning.

Sometimes hardware can become overpriced, in your opinion what is the price "limit" before is gets overpriced, for example titan XP is almost double the price of 1080 with not much more gains, 6950x almost same thing.

So in your opinion what would a pc should be used in the budget of:

$500 PC + $30 peripherals

$1000 PC + $100 peripherals

$1500 PC + $200 peripherals

$2000 PC  + $400 peripherals

$2500 PC + $500 peripherals

$3000 PC + $1000 peripherals

$3500 PC + $1000 peripherals

$4000 PC + $1000 peripherals

$1000 is the limit for a PC, then price/performance drops off. $250 is the sweet spot for peripherals.

Trying to choose which one deserves the best answer :D

Sounds pretty good, outside US we get taxed as (censored), just look a GPU in US and UK/AUD

it's basicly dependant on what you're doing, but in generic terms of "just function" @Coaxialgamer basicly nailed it.

offcourse prices swing HUGELY once you get outside of mainstream stuff, or want a dash of fancy as well.

i paid in the €2000 range, for what was basicly a €1200ish rig, because i had some specific desires that just cost money.

- i wanted an overkill power supply (for possible future expansion)

- i wanted the support for SLI, if i ever decided to be crazy enough.

- i went with a 240GB SSD back when they were still a notable chunk more than 120GB ones

- i didnt cheap out on hard drives, to say the least :P

- i got a VERY good optical drive

- in the end, a define R5 isnt a very cheap option either :D

- and so on.

basicly, the right amount of money to spend depends on two things:

- how much money do you have available (there is no "infinite" budget, if your budget is infinite you need a better bookkeeper, even trump has a budget.)

- what does the rig need to do for you?
