hello interwebz

so i have 2 200w 4ohm impedence speakers that i had lying around, along with a sub-woofer from a computer speaker setup. so i thought i would hook them up to computer. the problem is i dont have an amp. now at the moment i have it getoed together with the amp pulled out of the same computer speakers that i got the sub form, it works but not well. i get static and the little amp is barely enough to power the speakers and sub. so what im looking for is a small amp that could power 2 speakers and a small sub. i would like to keep it in the $20-60 range and have it small enough to sit on my desk and not take up the whole thing.

some thing like this but that is actually decent: http://www.amazon.com/Lepai-LP-168HA-40-Watt-Amplifier-Output/dp/B0070Z87YO/ref=pd_sim_sbs_misc_2

what speakers are they? can you tell us what is written on the back, if not at least what they came out of? Regardless of what power they can handle, even a 5watt amp should drive them sufficiently. If you have static it is probably because the amp is broken or not wired up properly.

WE need pics, it probably won't help, but you said it is gettoed and that means we need to see it B)

Love it, I dare say that amp is knackered, Plus I doubt those speaker would handle 200Watts, they are probably more likely to be 50watt RMS.

That lepai amp you linked to would be fine.

4 ohms is enough to be powered by onboard

that's if you are talking sensitivity around 80-100 db per mW found in headphones

speakers are typically around 80-100 db per W

1000x more power for speakers.

if your sub is passive, the amp you linked to is fine.

if it's active you could get this amp and save a few bucks.

Will work for electronic components and parts
