Refresh rates

Hello, I'm new here and have a dumb question that may have already been answered in the past. I was wondering if a monitor's refresh rate (e.g. 60 or 120hz) can bottlebeck a gaming rig that can achieve frame rates as high as 140+fps? Thank you in advance for any help!

Kind of. A 60hz. display will only let you see 60fps. But it doesn't stop your PC from achieving higher fps. Some games have settings that will limit the fps of the game based on the display. So if you had a 60hz display, the game will only let the gpu render 60 fps

you will only see as many frames as your monitor can display per second but higher framerates brings better frametimeings and smother gameplay

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...
