What would you consider a "Mid End" laptop CPU.

Eh, kind of ignored the laptop scene for awhile. Average user applications like spotify, skype, a web browser open and some other semi-light weight applications all running at the same time would probably be the most being done.

I think somewhere between the i3 and i5 can be considered mid-end but it depends on the other hardware paired with it.

An i3 should be enough for the apps you mentioned. It's more a matter of how many RAM the laptop would have.

Laptop CPUs have come a long way, and for your needs even a Celeron would do the job. I personally have a Celeron N2840 and for browsing, YouTube and light tasks it's good, especially considering its low price tag.

As far as AMD goes, an A6 will suffice. My dad has an A8 and it works beatuifully.
