Is it worth doing this small upgrade?

g12601

Would it be worth upgrading my a4 7300 to an Athlon x4 845 for gaming or would it be better to do a complete upgrade next year.

Are you sure that you have the right socket? also, no probably not as lots of games only support 2 cores anyway

Most modern games still only support 2 cores if I'm not mistaken.

But then again I haven't been keeping as up to date as I should have so I could be wrong.

of course, AMD still has its own problems -- lower IPC mainly

Yeah that was kind of a failed upgrade... but it really is noticeable in CIV V

  • 5 weeks later...

I NEED SOME HELP WITH THIS.

I played Battlefield 1 yesterday and it was just unplayable, It could not go over like 10-20 fps. I am very sure that my CPU is the blame. (AMD A4 7300) I am now seriously considering an upgrade to the X4 845. or some cheap APU quad core.
