Help finding a new laptop

I've given up on trying to use my Asus K53TA laptop, too many problems for it to be worth even bringing it with me, so now I'm trying to find a new laptop to use on the go.

I've already got a reasonably powered desktop (see signature), so it doesn't have to be incredibly powerful, though the more powerful, the better.

What I'll be using it for...

- Programming in Java using Eclipse and possibly VB in Visual Studio 2010 Express

- Moderate gaming (In case I get bored, things like Skyrim or Minecraft)

- School work (Browsing Internet, Microsoft Word/PowerPoint/Excel, Adobe Photoshop, etc..)

- Occasional web/graphics design. (With Adobe Photoshop or similar)

A few requirements for it..
- Can support at least 16GB of RAM

- SATA 3 and M.2 Support (M.2 not required, but preferred)

- Quad Core i5 or i7, 4th gen or newer.

- Decent graphics (Something capable of games such as skyrim)

- Standard layout keyboard (No oddly shaped backspace, enter, shift, etc... and reasonably sized arrow keys)

- 13"-16" 1080p, 1440p, or 4k display, IPS, and Touchscreen. (IPS and Touchscreen not required, but preferred)

- Decent battery life (3+ hours)

- Costs less than $1,000 USD

- Runs Windows

I'd also prefer it to be as thin and light as it can, that way it's not weighing down my backpack.

Right now I've got my eye on this laptop: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015PYZI8E/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=WWK4D3M9D6RZ&coliid=IZ2YQPZ53DGXU&psc=1 (Dell Inspiron i7559-5012GRY), it's a little over $1,000, though it also seems like it'd be pretty decent. I'm just curious as to if there's a better option out there for me for less.

Thanks!

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

Visual Studio 2010 is no longer supported. You can use Visual Studio 2015 Community.

Why a quad core? You're limiting yourself to expensive and thick laptops.

If you decided to sacrifice gaming performance you could get more than 2x better battery with a normal laptop.

If you want a thin and light laptop then you can't have a quad core i5 or i7..........

That Dell is by no means thin or light so idek why you even gave a criteria////////

I still have visual studio 2010, and it's what I'm using in one of my classes right now, so keeping everything compatible for now is my goal.

A quad core because it'll do much better for multitasking than a dual core would.

Hmm..

Well then I guess I won't be able to have decent multi-tasking performance.

I gave the criteria so people could recommend other options..

2015 isn't that much newer. And any class using 2010 probably isn't helping you.

You don't understand how PCs work.

Laptops which are "thin and light", "quad core" and "play games" in the same sentence are $1500+ USD machines. More often than not, they end up being around $2000.

The Dell Inspiring isn't thin and light. It is quad core but TBH, it's not very good for gaming.

Then how about you make some actual damn suggestions for a laptop instead of just sitting here giving me shit about my post? That or just get out of here if you're not going to positively contribute to the goal of this thread.

Here are laptops I found which meet your criteria in some way:

This is cheap and has a dedicated graphics card which can game.

I won't likely end up buying one right now, it'll probably be early-mid next year before I have the money to even consider it.

I'm just trying to see what options are out there, who knows, I might end up having the money next week, I'd rather have my eyes on something now than just pool money waiting for some magical unreleased laptop to be born.

Basically it's going to be a 1050ti laptop. Expect the 7559 and Y700 to be refreshed for Pascal with a 1050 or 1050ti and those will continue to be in the 800-1000 range.
