Should I downgrade to a GTX 1070?

Obscurbia

Well I Built a gaming rig about 8 months ago along with my friends and we had high hopes of reuniting together through the interwebs, but with school full time, that hasn't panned out the way we wanted. I built the strongest rig of the three of us and ironically I play the least. I got a gtx 1080 to play games on my 4k monitor, but since it barely gets any use I feel as if I should sell it then get a gtx 1070. Honestly i'm more of a casual gamer that likes enjoys high resolution, but I got swept up in the hype and now i'm regretting it. When I do play games I tend to play older titles like Lfd2 or indie titles and occasionally CsGo, sims, tropico, and Overwatch . Does the Gtx 1070 have enough gusto to plow through these older titles in 4k? (obviously not 60fps on max settings or anything)

Edit: Yeah I figured it be smarter to keep it for monetary reasons alone,  but It sure as hell feels like a waste.

Yes, a 1070 can run most games on high well (It can easily run those maxed).

Edit: I still wouldn't recommend trading it for a 1070, alot of effort for a $100 and a downgrade in performance.

You will sell your gpu used for the same cost as a new 1070.  Basically, don't bother.

I don't recommend you selling it. I think it is a waste of money. Now you've got a 1080, and a 4k display.

Any other GPU is not gonna do well at 4k.

Use the 1080 as long as you can. (5 years ++) Then it is not a waste of money. You get what you pay for.

Now selling it means you are losing money. And buy another product that is not as powerful as your current one just does not make sense.

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

Don't sell it. Just think of it as a long term investment. With the games you play you shouldn't have to worry about upgrading for a long time.
