Stuck at MSI splash screen after updating to Windows 10?

Hi,

 

I was updating my laptop to Windows 10. Left the room, came back 30 minutes later and I'm stuck on MSI splash screen. Turning it on and off doesn't help.

 

I can access the BIOS by pressing DEL.

 

Any idea what I could do?

Its a laptop with no DVD drive. I can't see any options for safe boot.

get a usb and access to another computer and set it up as a win 10 install medium. upgrades have always had sporadic issues that are often impractical to troubleshoot

So what exactly should I do? I don't have Windows 10 disk. I have Windows 8.1 DVD but it's already installed on a different PC.

like I said take a usb and download the tool here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10/  make the usb an install medium with the tool and then use it on your laptop

It's downloading now, thanks. Should I just plug it in, or do I have to change order of boot devices in BIOS?

probably gonna have to do that, if there's anything you really needed to keep the usb might be able to resolve the issue to get you in so you can offload, but always best to do a clean install before long term use

That's what I did. I formatted the PC, tried to install 3DS MAX but it kept on failing as before I formatted I tried to install it and it wouldn't install 2012 redistribute file thing. So I decided to upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and after I came back it was just the logo on the screen. If I knew I'd keep Windows 8.1. Laptop was working fine before.

UPDATE: LOGGED INTO WINDOWS 10 RANDOMLY. It was on boot screen for ages and then there was an error. Login screen just appeared. What should I do to protect myself from this happening again?

I restarted to make sure. It's a clean install. I do not have a disk otherwise. It's a clean install btw. It got stuck after installing windows 10 I think.

try verifying system integrity. press windowskey+r type in cmd.exe and hit enter. then type "SFC /scannow" without quotations into the cmd.exe screen. this will check your windows for corruption and try to repair any modified system files.

I think it's fine now though, Windows 8.1 didn't like installing 3DS MAX for some reason and it didn't like redist 2012 etc. Windows 10 works fine. Restarted it few times, turned it on and off many times. It's all good.
