Windows 8.1 Random Freezing lasting 3 minutes

Try this option: 

1. Try to enable Hyper-V. See this: http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-crashes-debugging/7189-another-solution-freezing-issue.html

 It will fix all these strange hangs and freezes in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. I did it and no hang no more. Proofed!

fix is for intel systems.. I'm running a amd fx series system so I doubt it would have solved the seizures.

To make anyone still dealing with this problem feel better about the option of rolling back before the windows defender update I was able to narrow down that other problem I had to a faulty Sata connection. Plugged into a different one and everything works fine now =]

Glad that you fixed it, but must be another problem.. my issues went away after going back to windows 7, and most of the other people on here experienced it after upgrading to windows 8.1 from 8.
